Unleashing Skills for Canada's Future

What is FSTP?

The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is one of the federal economic immigration programs under the Express Entry system in Canada. It is specifically designed to welcome skilled tradespeople with relevant work experience in certain trade occupations to address labor market needs in the country.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Who can apply for FSTP?

The eligibility criteria for the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) in Canada include the following:

    1

    Skilled Trade Experience

Applicants must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equivalent amount of part-time work) in a skilled trade within the five years before applying. The work experience must be in an occupation that is listed in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level B. The NOC is a system used to classify occupations in Canada, and Skill Level B includes various skilled trades such as electricians, carpenters, plumbers, welders, industrial mechanics, and others.

    2

Job Offer or Certificate of Qualification

To be eligible for the FSTP, candidates must have either a valid job offer of full-time employment in Canada for at least one year in their skilled trade, OR a certificate of qualification issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority. The certificate of qualification is evidence that the candidate meets the necessary standards and requirements to work in their skilled trade in Canada.

    3

    Language Proficiency

Candidates must demonstrate language proficiency in either English or French. To prove their language ability, they need to take an approved language test. The accepted language tests include the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for English and the Test d'Évaluation de Français (TEF) for French.

    4

    Admissibility

All applicants must be admissible to Canada, which means they must not have any serious criminal convictions or medical issues that would deem them inadmissible.

    5

    Express Entry Profile

The FSTP operates within the Express Entry system. Therefore, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for Express Entry and create an Express Entry profile. The Express Entry system evaluates candidates based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability, among others. PROCESS

What is the process for FSW Program?

The application process under the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) involves several steps to apply for permanent residency in Canada. Here's an overview of the process

    Check Eligibility

Determine if you meet the eligibility criteria for the FSTP program. Ensure you have the required work experience in a skilled trade occupation listed in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level B

    Language Proficiency

Take a language proficiency test (such as IELTS or CELPIP for English, or TEF for French) to demonstrate your language abilities in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Achieving the minimum language score is essential for eligibility.

Obtain a Job Offer or Certificate of Qualification

Secure a valid job offer from a Canadian employer for at least one year in the skilled trade occupation you are qualified for. Alternatively, if you have a certificate of qualification issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority in your skilled trade, that can also make you eligible.

    Create an Express Entry Profile

If you meet the eligibility requirements, create an online Express Entry profile through the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. Provide accurate and up-to-date information about your education, work experience, language proficiency, and other details.

Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)

Candidates in the Express Entry pool are ranked based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. If you have a competitive CRS score, you may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency through a regular Express Entry draw.

    Submit Permanent Residence Application

Once you receive an ITA, you will have a specific timeframe to submit a complete application for permanent residency. Ensure all required documents and information are submitted accurately.

    Medical and Security Checks

Undergo medical examinations and security checks as part of the admissibility assessment.

    Approval and Landing

If your application is approved, you will be issued a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). You can then proceed to Canada and become a permanent resident.

It's important to note that the application process for FSTP is competitive, and the CRS score required to receive an ITA can vary with each Express Entry draw. The Express Entry system is dynamic, and candidates are encouraged to update their profiles regularly to improve their CRS score and enhance their chances of receiving an ITA.

For detailed and up-to-date information on the application process, it's best to refer to the official Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website or seek advice from a qualified immigration consultant or lawyer.
